031 — Wake Up

This is the 31st installment of this newsletter. It is crazy to think that there are over 60 pieces of music that have been released over the course of a year and a half now. The releases include the posts that are locked for paid subscribers.

I wrote this piece for a project that I was brought in on beginning of the year. It ended up being a throw away track so I am releasing it here. I called it ‘Wake Up’.

I ran into this one when I was rearranging some files and I thought it was so lovely. So I wanted to share it here with you.

A book that I’ve been re-reading this summer is from Steven Pressfield. I have read almost all his books. They have helped guide me in my journey. His book “The Artist’s Journey” has been my recent read. Its so good. I love this quote from Ryan Holiday who is a best selling author of The Ego Is The Enemy, “Wherever you are, whatever you’ve been called to make… You need to read this book.”

Something I’ve been experiencing in my own journey is something I recently read from one of his emails. And here it is:

Whatever You Think You Know About Yourself, You’re Wrong

“The stories we tell ourselves about ourselves are almost always wrong. That’s their nature. The purpose of these self-conceived narratives is to keep us comfortably unconscious. We tell ourselves these stories so we can avoid the pain of diving deep, to the real story underneath.

The artist’s journey is the dive through the faux story to the true one.”

Truly the more I heal, the more I discover about myself. The more I dig, the more I shed. Its a journey that we are all in. I hope this track brings you some peace as you listen.

Until next time…
